My god! Thank you so much, I'm flattered.

that's a really a great piece. The face and everything came out very well. Minor crit would be...make sure to follow through...I think you could have really had something phenominal if you worked all the way through his jacket and the shadows under his chin with the same passion and focus as the face and hair.

I do the same thing so that's why I mentioned it...you gotta give it all.....all the way though...even if it's going to get abstract or suggestive...sell that stuff with the same conviction..it can't look like it's fizzling out in spots. (hope that makes sense.)

I like it though...really great face.

Thanks for the critique:) I guess I was taught to have some parts of the drawing really tight and others loose, I was told it makes for a more fluid piece...but I see what youre saying. Next time I'll try to finish up more.
Thanks!

don't misunderstand..what your teacher said was true. I think later on you might be able to see that the "suggestive or loose parts" on this piece aren't completely there(or are too much)...it's jarring to the eye.....the key to the fluidness is to not have it noticable.

Black will always pull the eye to it.....like Robs hair under the chin area is really strong and it's not what I want my eye looking at...it's also sort of interesting and jagged shapes....again making me want to figure out what it is(not literally) it's all unconscious things.

Please don't take this as being over critical...I am glad you replied and I am more than happy to try and re-explain what I wrote so that it's more understandable.

With this piece it's very clear that you will be killing these things as you do more and more.

:)

Thanks for explaining a little bit more, it makes sense and I see what you mean.
And yeah I hope it comes with time. I'm 22 so I'm hoping I'll learn those things along the way.

Oh and I'm not taking it as you being overly critical. I'd be an asshole to take offense! You are an amazing artist and I hope to one day have as good an eye as you have. Your stuff is really gorgeous.

I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts! It helps me immensely.
